We are Diversity and Inclusion Scientists.  We have deep expertise in the factors that influence the success and failure of deep diversity and true inclusion.  Our approach is fully grounded in the most current evidence regarding what matters, what makes things worse, and what works.  We specialize in health, human service, and educational organizations.

We know that not all diversity officers have the time or background to fully take in all the relevant evidence coming from the diversity sciences.  We can provide you with the background support you need to ensure you are up-to-date and that your approach and recommendations are fully consistent with diversity sciences evidence.

Whether you want a partner to walk with you from beginning to end or you need limited and targeted assistance, consultation, assessment or training, we can help.

InclusionDx

Our assessments do more than most – we carefully examine the factors that underlie a group or organization’s ability to create a truly inclusive environment.  Our assessments result in meaningful feedback and actionable recommendations.  We can also assist you in developing a full roadmap to achieve true inclusion.

We engaged over 100,000 participants in our online questionnaires, including tens of thousands of health care personnel, medical students, and higher education students.  We specialize in heath care, human services and educational organization. In the last two years alone we have conducted diversity & inclusion climate assessments with over 40,000 participats for numerous organizations including medical schools, graduate educational programs and and health care organizations.

For obvious reasons, we cannot share specifics or reports to organizations.  For examples of publications based on large numbers of organizations combined (to protect organization confidentialty),click here.

If you would like to know more or arrange for an assessment, please use the form below or contact us directly at:

If you are a participant and have technical or other questions, please call 612-314-6505 or email us at thesurveycenter@inclusion.dx.com

Here is what you can expect when you work with us to conduct your asssessment:

1) First, we will work together to identify and prioritize the specific organizational needs and aims that underly your interest in an organizational assessment. Although there are a number of known factors that are associated with effective organizations and true inclusion and equity, each organization has its own set of unique characteristics, priorities and concerns. Optionally, we can provide you with information on typical assessments and known organizational factors that are relevant to your aims.

<

p class=”font_7″>Clear explication of your aims and priorities
provides a roadmap for designing a tailored
assessment that will provide you with:

  • A picture of your organization’s current status.

  • A baseline against which you can measure
    organizational change.

  • Information on aspects of the culture and current climate that support or inhibit achieving your aims, at each level of your organization.

  • A change readiness assessment that will inform targeted recommendations.

2) Second, we will develop a participation rate and data quality maximization plan. We will review the factors that may support and/or impede theconduct of the assessment in your specific organization. We can assist you in developing a communication plan to promote acceptance of the project. Employee participation is key to the success of your assessment/audit.

Often, the best way to maximize voluntary participation is to ensure that the questionnaire is relevant to employee concerns and provide both release time and incentives for participation.

3) The next step is to develop your tailored assessment tool (we usually recommend an online questionnaire). There are several steps involved. We will:

  • Translate your aims and priorities into a setof measurable constructs.

  • Identify the best validated measures (question or sets of questions.

  • Develop and test new questions, as needed.

  • Determine the order of questions based on know order effects.

  • Pilot test the questionnaire – and make any necessary revisionss.

We share copyright of the questionnaire with you – it will be yours to use in the future to track change over time, either with us, on your own, or with another firm.

In most cases there will be previously validated measures (sets of questions) that can be used or adapted. In most cases they will be measures we have used before.  In some cases, your unique organization or issues will require the development of new measures.  We are experts in the development of valid and reliable questionairres.  We usually use crowd-sourced samples to test the new measures before including them in your questionnaire/assessment tool.

4) Collect the data!

A pilot test of a questionnaire is like a dress rehearsal for a play. It brings unexpected issues to light, informs improvement, and ensures that all procedures will flow smoothly.

<

p class=”font_7″>5) Analyze the data and prepare reports and
recommendations. This often involves
multiple reports for different stakeholders and different purposes. In addition to the traditional report, modalities
may include online static or dynamic reports
and in-person presentations. We know that sometimes you will have more questions so we do not limit reporting to one set product – we want to make sure you get the best information you need to create positive changes.

Recommendations depend upon:

  • The kinds (characteristics) of the changes that are needed,

  • The extent or depth of the required changes,

  • The strength of factors that support the change,

  • The strength of barriers that need to be overcome to create change.
