Sean Phelan, Ph.D. has expertise on the influence of stigma, identity threat, microaggression & biases on both organizational members and on the people they serve. He has special interest and expertise on the effect of health care provider biases and attitudes on the quality and content of clinical care, as well the effect of perceived stigma and discrimination on the health of members of stigmatized and marginalized groups. Dr. Phelan’s current research focus is on the effect of weight stigma on treatment of patients who are overweight or obese.
